Oranjestad, Aruba – January 22, 2025 – Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort proudly announces that its annual Merry Merry Marketplace, held from December 8th to December 29th, 2024, successfully raised AWG 9,875.41 for the Mary Joan Foundation, a local organization dedicated to supporting individuals battling breast cancer.
Since its inception in 2017, the Merry Merry Marketplace has become a cherished holiday tradition in Aruba, combining festive activities with community-driven philanthropy. A central highlight of the event is the ice-skating rink, where children enjoyed 15-minute sessions for a nominal fee of $3, with all proceeds directed to a designated local charity. This year, the Mary Joan Foundation was the chosen beneficiary.
"We are incredibly grateful to have partnered with the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort for this festive occasion," said Arabelle Colina, Manager of the Mary Joan Foundation. "Thanks to everyone’s generosity and hard work, we will be able to use the funds raised to make a meaningful impact. With this support, we will follow a specialized course to create wigs for cancer patients, helping to provide them with comfort and confidence during this challenging time."
The Mary Joan Foundation, established on September 26, 2007, has raised awareness about breast cancer and provided emotional support to patients and their families. The foundation offers guidance, organizes social activities, and promotes physical and spiritual wellness for those affected by the disease.
"At the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, we take great pride in hosting the Merry Merry Marketplace, which allows us to support the important work of the Mary Joan Foundation within our community," said Jody-Lynn Desbarida, Local Marketing Manager at Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort. “This annual event has become a highly anticipated part of the holiday season, and we are happy that this tradition can bring joy and help to those in need."
In addition to the ice-skating rink, Merry Merry Marketplace featured daily live entertainment, including performances by big bands and children's entertainers, creating a vibrant atmosphere for attendees of all ages.
Over the past seven years, Merry Merry Marketplace has contributed AWG 76,000 to various local charities, reflecting the event's ongoing commitment to giving back to the community.
